SPANISH HARLEM – The New York Yankees have clinched a Wild Card spot but they are not done yet with the division on the line and the Knicks had their media day. Let’s dig into both subjects today and have fun doing so.

The Yankees Want More

Sure, it’s great to get into the playoffs but the Yankees still have their sight on the division. As of early Wednesday, they remain one game back on the Toronto Blue Jays with 5 games left to play. They will need a little bit of luck and have to win the rest of their games to even have a chance. While it seems possible, it highly unlikely but a man can dream.

On that front, winning the division can grant you a bye in the playoffs but I’m not sure I like having a bye. I know it helps set up your rotation and allows players dealing with injuries more time to recover but baseball is a sport where momentum is key. The hottest teams almost always get to the World Series, and the Yankees are playing good ball right now. I want them to play as much as possible and stay in that groove.

Knicks Media Day

Buddy Diaz

Well guys and girls, we have basketball back in our lives and I’m super hype about what the New York Knicks can possibly achieve this season. Hopes are high and this team looks as strong as any team I can remember. They are deeper than they were last season with a legit bench that will be utilized by Mike Brown. This could be a magical season, and it seems that the players are buying to Brown’s philosophy. It may take some time for the offense to settle in but if it works, they can be explosive.

I know it’s only media day and everyone is saying all the right things, but I know its more than just talk. This team is capable of winning a championship and when was the last time our fans ever felt that way? Maybe 20 years ago, if that. Can this team finally achieve the unachievable? I certainly hope so.

That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for more great content from Jackson Sternberg.
