Port Jeff NY- Greetings, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, that is if you’re not a New York sports fan. Let’s get into today’s topics!
Mets sign Luke Weaver
If the goal for the 2025 offseason was to take the entirety of the back-end of the Yankees bullpen, they’ve done a great job. After signing Devin Williams to a three year 50 million dollar contracts the Mets followed that up by giving Luke Weaver a two-year deal worth 20 million. Total those two together and it equals the amount Edwin Diaz received from the Dodgers. Williams is a very good arm and Weaver has been at times throughout his career, however if given the choice I’d choose Edwin Diaz every time without hesitation. We’ve talked enough about disappointing of an offseason it’s been for the Mets and while it’s still very early Im very worried about the product that the front office is putting on the field.
Giants offseason priorities

As we head into week 16, the Giants currently hold the number one pick with several glaring holes and no head coach. Coming into 2025 it was expected the Giants defense specifically the front seven would be the strength of this team and it’s been the complete opposite. With Jaxson Dart showing more then enough to be the starter in 2026, it’s fair to wonder how the Giants should handle their first round pick which will almost certainly be a top 3 pick.
If the Giants can trade down and add multiple picks throughout the draft to address the issues needed to make this team competitive I think that’s what they should do. Then there’s the matter of the HC position. It’s absolutely crucial for the development of Dart that the Giants make the right signing, which in my eyes needs to be an offensive-minded coach. The perfect target is current Browns HC Kevin Stefanski, who is likely to be fired at the end of this season. Stefanski is maybe the best offensive coach in the sport who had maybe the worst luck of any coach at the QB position. If the Giants bring in Stefanski I think he could make Dart a true top end QB.
