Bichette will Happen. Bo Knows.

TORONTO, CCANADA – It all comes down to this: the Toronto Blue Jays blew it! During the winter meetings, Blue Jays General Manager Ross Atkins let it be known that the team has ownership’s support to spend more money. Spend it, they did as they signed pitcher Dylan Cease to a 7 year, 210 million dollar deal. Cease’s record for 2025 was 8 Wins and 12 Losses with a 4.55 Earned Run Average. They also snatched infielder Kazuma Okamoto from Japan for 4 years and 60 million dollars. Okamoto has no major league hits or at bats. They also secured pitcher Cody Pence for 3 years and 30 million dollars. Pence had a 0-6 record with a 7.04 ERA.

Atkins’s number one priority should have been to his shortstop Bo Bichette, who just signed with the N.Y. Mets. Bo was the catalyst of the Jays lineup and he should have been signed to a nice deal the same time they inked Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to his 14 year/500 million dollar contract. After all, they both came up thru the system together, and were the thunder and lightning of the Jays lineup. It seemed like Bo was always treated as the 2nd class citizen on that team and now he’s gone.

What the Mets acquired is a modern day Pete Rose who is a throwback to the players of yesteryear. Bichette’s knack is making sh~t happen. He’ll get on base over 200 times, and run the bases like he’s running from the cops. Bo will hit the homerun when it matters, and dive like Michael Phelps to prevent a run.

By putting Bo on the back burner, the Jays seem to be following the new trend where teams don’t cater to what they have…  hello Mets, with the Pete Alonso fiasco.

The Mets are trying to win back their fanbase after getting rid of their fans’ popular players. They showed some muscle in that department by grabbing Bo before he inked a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.

They missed an opportunity to land another Blue Jay in coach Don Mattingly, who bolted to the Phils. If they are smart, they should add Dante Bichette, Bo’s dad, to their staff. That will rekindle the “90”s slogan, “Bichette Happens!,” which was popular in Colorado when Dante was a Rockie.

Drop a dime below and check out Jacob Sternberg – who has his own thoughts on the move. Damn millennial.
