STAMFORD, CT – I’m wrapping up my MTM career after football season, so two more after this. It’s been fun. Let’s talk some football!
Hoosiers Get it Done
I didn’t stay up to watch, but the Indiana Hoosiers are the champs after completing the undefeated season. In football, not basketball. IU is not a school I ever expected to see win a national championship in football. Coach Cignetti turned the program around. Miami had a chance to pull off the upset on the final drive, but future Jets QB Carson Beck threw an interception with 51 seconds left after advancing to Indiana’s side of the field.

Tuck Rule Anniversary
IU QB Mendoza is likely to be the first pick in the draft to the Raiders. And speaking of the Raiders, yesterday was the 24th anniversary of the Tuck Rule Game. After which, Tom Brady went on win 75 Super Bowls and the Raiders went on to suck for two and a half decades. Maybe Brady loses confidence if they lose that one and it changes the trajectory of his career. Bradyfly Effect.

Survive the Ground
Anyone who still thinks the key interception by McMillan in the Broncos Bills game should have been a ruled a catch needs to learn the rules. If the exact same thing happened but the ball hit the ground instead of landing in McMillan’s arms it would have been an incomplete pass not a fumble. Because he didn’t SURVIVE THE GROUND! Have you watched a game in the last decade? The one frame
of Cooks with the ball on the ground is not nearly enough. That’s why they didn’t need to look at it. Learn the rules, admit you were wrong, and move on.
This play led to the firing of Sean McDermott. And you do have to question some of his in-game decisions. Like the end of the first half when they tried to make something happen with 22 seconds left and no time outs, giving Denver a free three to end the half when Allen fumbled. It didn’t help that Allen was carrying the ball like a baby with a really dirty diaper.
2026 QB Heavy Draft That Wasn’t
The 2026 NFL draft was supposed to be stock with stud QBs like Arch Manning and LSU’s Nussmeier. But you never know for sure. It didn’t pan out for most of them, and now the poor Jets don’t even have a clear QB target at number two. Many thought the Giants should wait until this year to grab a QB from a more stocked pool, but moving up and grabbing Dart last year looks pretty wise now. Good move by Schoen, even if it the main motivation was saving his job, not the long-term success of the franchise.
That’s it for me. Come back tomorrow for Angry Ward.
