PORT JEFF, NY – I hope everyone is doing well, here’s what we got today, Red-Hot red storm, NBA returns
Red-Hot Red Storm
In the latest prime time match-up for the Johnnies, they squared off with the Providence Friars, whom we talked about last week. It was Bryce Hopkins’ homecoming and was as hostile and intense as I’ve seen this season. Each team played as if this was the last game of the year. Early into the second half things went a bit too far, as forward Duncan Powell took a cheap shot at the aforementioned Hopkins, leading to a brawl and SIX EJECTIONS. Shortly after the melee, St. John’s lost one of their best players – Dillon Mitchell. Considering the circumstances, I was extremely impressed with Pitino’s squad’s ability to just keep winning. Followed by another scrappy win at Marquette, the Red Storm sit alone in first place at 14-1.
NBA Returns
The NBA has returned from the All-Star break, as we enter the homestretch toward the playoffs.

The Knicks look to integrate new edition, Jeremy Schoan, another versatile wing defender who can help them come the postseason. The Knickerbockers have as good of a chance as anyone out of the East, but the consistency needs to pick up. Yet, all you can ask for as a fan is a legit shot at a championship. That a realistic expectation, even despite a tough loss to a very good Pistons team.
As we wrap up today, I’d be remiss if I did not mention the retirement of the last Gold Glove Winner of our beloved Mets and one of Fake Sandy’s favorites, Juan Lagares.
