Mets Swoon Continues, Giants Problems: Dexter Lawrence Wants Out

Things going sideways for Giants and Mets?

PORT JEFF, NY – I hope everyone’s enjoying the warm weather. Let’s dive into our topics. Mets Swoon Continues, Giants Problems: Dexter Lawrence Wants Out.

Mets Swoon Continues

After a disastrous home stand, which saw the Mets getting swept by the Sacramento Athletics, the Amazins’ woes moved west versus the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers. It was about what you expect; a one-sided series. The only silver lining of this terrible series was that the world saw how great Nolan McLean is going to be. McLean shut down the Dodgers for seven innings and gave his team every chance to win a game that they must have. Juan Soto will soon return, perhaps on the next homestead.

But there are still so many questions about this offense moving on from guys like McNeil and Nimmo. What was the purpose of moving McNeil? I still do not understand. McNeil would at least put the ball and play and give the team a chance. Nimmo would at least get on base. I know it’s still April in this team may well start performing, but so far in his tenure David Sterns has failed the Mets core, which currently sits as Lindor Soto, McLean, and perhaps Francisco Alvarez. All are under contract for years to come. If there’s any reason for optimism with this group, it’s for the players I named, including Carson Benge – and the many prospects that the Mets have in their system who are supposed to be very highly talented. Although it looks bleak now, it only takes one to start a new winning streak. #YaGottaBelieve

Giants Problems: Dexter Lawrence Wants Out

Jackson Sternberg

The [huge] man in middle wants out. While the Giants had optimism for a few months after hiring new head coach, John Harbaugh, some of that optimism evaporated as star defensive tackle Lawrence requested a trade just before the draft. Lawrence has been the best player on the Giants for the past four or five years. Although his production has decreased due to injury or scheme fits, losing a player of his caliber would be very, very difficult to replace. If a trade comes about, it may come with the caveat of trading Lawrence for a haul of picks, much like the Jets got for Quinnen Williams. If the Giants were able to pull that off, I don’t think anyone would complain. However, you don’t find players like him every day, and it would take a lot for the Giants to move him even if he insists he wants out. Right now, there isn’t much interest from other teams.
