SPANISH HARLEM – With all the news around the Knicks lately like: Knicks Stun The World – I have not discussed the Yankees in any way shape or form, but that ends today. And oh yeah, I’ill also have some news for Knick fans. But let’s start with my biggest issue with the Yankees so far… injuries, especially Aaron Judge.
Post-Judge Yankees
Losing Aaron Judge is not just like losing any other player, he is the Yankees and for them to accomplish anything this year, he will have to play and play a lot. As we know, that won’t happen, as he is estimated to be out 4 to 6 weeks at the earliest. This team is reliant on Judge that I just don’t see how the Yankees win enough games to contend for the division. The Tampa Bay Rays remain in first place by percentage points but it’s not hard to see that the Yankees have had a difficult time scoring runs lately. Judge makes the whole lineup better and it will fall on Ben Rice to do a lot of the heaving lifting. Giancarlo Stanton, when healthy should help, but they will need contributions from everyone in the lineup to stay in contention.
Knicks Stun The World
I can’t explain what I saw last night. The Knicks were down 27 going into the 3rd quarter and it felt like the sky was falling. Not only were the Spurs shooting the lights in the first half, but they set an NBA record for the most made threes. I was absolutely down on this team the first two quarters, my whole being wanted to lose faith and get for ready for bed. YET, I held out hope. Then something switched; the Knicks started cutting into the lead. Down 20, down 15, down 20 again, down 10, down 5 then up 1 with less than minute left in the game. It happened so fast that it was hard to comprehend. I couldn’t believe my very eyes… then the Knicks took the lead. And with all great moments in sports, it came down to one play. Sure, there were plays before that lead to this moment, but no one will care. Down one, with less than 4 seconds left, Jalen Brunson goes for the game winning tree, misses the shot, only for OG Anunoby to tip ball in and the rest is history.
