PORT JEFF, NY – It might look like the apocalypse out there, but there’s still sports to talk about! Here are two topics for us to gnaw on: Mets Second Half, Greatest Pitcher Ever?
Mets Second Half
The Mets kicked off the second half of their season with Christian Scott taking the mound amidst the haze at Citizens Bank Park. Scott dominated the Phillies for six strong innings, and for everything that’s gone wrong for the Mets this year—and there’s been plenty—his emergence, or re-emergence, as a top-tier starter is a big development. Even in a lost season, there are still reasons to tune in and watch the Mets. Unless, of course, they trade Francisco Lindor. Then who knows anymore? But until then… Let’s Go Mets! Always.
Greatest Pitcher Ever?

Who’s the most dominant pitcher in baseball history? While watching the All-Star Game, my brother and I started talking about it. Without hesitation, we both agreed on Jacob deGrom—at his peak, he was arguably one of the most talented pitchers ever to step on a mound. We also considered prime Clayton Kershaw, especially when he nearly threw a perfect game against the Mets in 2015, and even the brief dominance of Matt Harvey. But for my money, at least from what I’ve seen so far, deGrom might just be the greatest pitcher I’ve ever witnessed.
