SPANISH HARLEM – Today I will do a roundup of 3 things that I want to get off my chest. By no means are these 3 things bad but they do touch upon some things that may be perceived as negative. That’s totally fine, right? What’s happiness without sadness… I guess more happiness, anyhow lets jump into action.
The Smoke and Mirror Yankees
It’s still very difficult to watch a New York Yankees game without feeling somewhat hopeless for the first 6 innings. They get a lead off double only to watch the next 3 batters do absolutely nothing. It is a continuous loop that adds to my frustration, but they still continue to win games. The starting pitching has been great, and offense scratches a run or two and that’s the ball game. How long can they continue like this? Who knows, but ugly wins are still wins.
And of course, after writing this the Yankees go out and score 10 runs last night to put me in my place. Let’s hope this offense burst last a couple games!
KAT’s Contract Extension
Karl-Anthony Towns has been paid like an elite player and while he may deserve every penny he can get, we live in a second apron NBA world. Brunson’s sacrifice has lead the way and now it’s time for KAT to do the same. If they expect to contend into the near future, players have to/need to continue to put the team first. KAT has said all the right things before when asked about an extension and he will get paid no matter what. How much is yet to be determined but the sooner he is locked-up the better than Knicks will be.
Jalen Hurts
No caption for Hurts – just his name alone makes news. He is not elite! He only wins because of the team around him. Yet he is Super Bowl MVP winning quarterback, and while the noise around the offense last season was rightfully concerning, the news around camp is that Jalen is excited about the new offense. It will take some time to master but we live in a world where results are needed immediately.
