Yankees Advance to Face Astros and The Knicks Opening Night

SPANISH HARLEM – Not a great day to be discussing the New York Yankees and/or the New York Knicks but… let’s do it anyway and get right to my two main points – which were written before last night’s results were official.

New York Yankees Advance

Buddy Diaz

The New York Yankees are 0-1 in Texas today. If there was a game to steal in Houston, it was game 1. After winning on Tuesday, the momentum was on the Yankees’ side. Sure, this Astros team was/is well-rested and that may turn into an advantage at some point but last night should not have been one of those nights. Clarke Schmidt looked great… then looked not great. However, I could be dead wrong but I’m into wishful thinking. Yanks will prevail.

New York Knicks

Having two games that you want to watch on the same night, at the same time, can be stressful. I look at it a bit differently, though, as watching the Knicks relieves my anxiety over the Yankees playoffs. That can be a good thing. The New York Knicks were playing Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies – maybe the most entertaining team in the NBA. Definitely not an easy match-up to start the season but definitely an opportunity to watch your favorite basketball against one of the league’s elite teams. Overtime losses aren’t fun but hey, they battled back from 19 points down to make it interesting.

Buddy Diaz

All eyes are on Jalen Brunson and rightfully so. He is the shiny new toy you get to play with and see what impact he can make. One game will not answers all the questions there are for Knicks but it’s a start.

Okay, so my teams both lost and the Nets got swallowed by the Pelicans in Brooklyn. Let’s get back at it.

That’s it for now, come back tomorrow for Cam James.
