EL BARRIO, EL FALLS – Happy Monday. It’s nitty-gritty time for the NFL Playoffs. There was one upset, one blowout and two games going according to script. Throw in some NY Jets stuff and voila, here is today’s slate: NFL Playoffs Bummers, Blowouts & Close Calls. Plus Toxic NY JetsĀ
NFL Playoffs
Jaguars at Chiefs
The Jacksonville Jaguars got it together down the stretch. They became the team nobody wants to play. The Jags have arguably the best young QB in Trevor Lawrence and a bunch of guys working hard for each other. They showed their will last week as they came back from 27-0 to win. This weekend they were up against the Greatest Show on Turf Part 2, the Kansas City Chefs Chiefs. The KC defense is inconsistent, but that attack is going to put up 20+. That is what happened on Saturday. The Chiefs got out to a good start and and kept scoring enough that despite a fierce fight back from the Jags in the 4th quarter, they still won 27-20.
Giants at Eagles
The New York Football Giants season is over and over in a harsh way. Buddy Diaz’s Iggles put them down hard. If sitting out their first team guys in the season finale was to help, all it did was get the team past a weak Vikings squad. Against the #1 seed in the NFC, they were outplayed in all phases of the game. Philly had a lead of 28-0 at half and poured it on some more in the second half to finish 38-7. The Jints now have to figure out what to do in the off-season about key players like Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley. While the Eagles continue to bolster the resume of Jalen Hurts for league MVP. The Eagles are looking really good on both sides of the ball.
Bengals at Bills
This game was really disappointing for my Buffalo Bills fans/friends. They were at home. They had Damar Hamlin in the ballpark and all was et up for a big Bills win. It wasn’t to be. The Bengals came out and showed why they are the defending AFC Champs. They came into Buffalo and were dominant. Joe Burrow and the offense gets a lot of credit, but the defense was not a joke. They held the Bills attack to just 10 points. When Buffalo lost Von Miller a while back, their pass rush diminished. It was a key in NOT being able to stop the Cincinnati attack. Without that consistent pass rush, the Bengals were able to walk out 27-10 winners.
Cowboys at 49ers
This was the ugliest game of the weekend. It is funny, though, to say Brock Purdy outplayed Dak Prescott. I can’t say for sure, but as Purdy’s 49ers won the game – then it is clear that the 49er defense was better. The Dallas attack of last week couldn’t get going. The San Fransisco offense was efficient and did enough to score 17 points. The defense did the rest of the work and held the cowboys to 12 points.
Toxic JetsĀ
The J-E-T-S were in bad shape all season. It appears Elijah Moore told of Mike LaFleur and then asked for a trade. Zach Wilson was never comfortable with LaFleur. I am sure this led to the friction between the offense and defense and the love for Mike White. Anyway, it is clear the Jets need to find a veteran OC that can handle the personalities and get the team firing. I am not sure he would take such a lateral move, but I want Eric Bienemy.
