NIAGARA FALLS, NY – Happy Labor Day! The unofficial end of summer is sad but this is the week the kids also go back to school and that is just absolutely lovely. I will put in some work on Labor Day and but together today’s article and the topics are: Weekly Mets Update, Coach Prime’s Buffaloes and Fantasy Football.
Weekly Mets Update
The New York Mets have 25 games left in the season and need to win 18 of the next 25 in order to finish at .500. I don’t think they will do it or get there. My hope for them once it became clear that playoff were out of the question was finishing .500 but they have never looked like it or able to string a together a 6+ win streak. Pete Alonso hit 41st homer to set a club record of consecutive 40+ seasons. Francisco Lindor crossed the 25/25 barrier. All of this is nice but the better play should have happened earlier in the season… Vogelbach continues to struggle… McNeil is not back in batting title territory… Nimmo has been more consistent than the others but not worth the contract.
As for the week itself the Mets went 3-3 against the Rangers and Angry Ward’s Mariners. They could have taken two from Texas but again the bullpen failed… Kodai Senga and Jose Quintana are now the aces of this staff and have been putting in good performances but the bats go quiet and with one run leads, this bullpen can be inconsistent. They Mets played better against the Mariners but again they lost a 1-run game that could have been a win.

Coach Prime’s Buffaloes
When Deion Sanders announced he was leaving Jackson State for Colorado, people only raised their eyebrows slightly. It was just a matter of time before Coach Prime grew too big for a small HBCU. Most thought it would be another year at least, but they also knew a D1 school desperate for relevance would go with him. Nobody, though, saw Colorado being the school.
Some say Coach Prime talks too much and makes it all about him. But he took over a program that won one game last season and told everyone there would be drastic changes. He built from scratch team that included his son Shedaur Sanders transferring from Jackson State, they faced a TCU team that made the FBS playoffs last year and though returning only 3 starters on offense many expected to win at home by 3 TDs. They were wrong. (Say it in the Charlie Murphy voice or Trump). 45-42 was the final score, with QB Shedeur Sanders (Deion’s son) throwing for a school record 500+ yards. Heck of a statement game. The defense needs to tighten up. They caused turnovers but need to work on making more stops. I don’t know where this season will go for Coach Prime-Time but I have my popcorn ready.
Fantasy Football
Today is the day of my draft. Last year I drafted 4 RBs within the first 7 picks. I don’t think I will be doing that this season. I think I will go for a QB first then WR and RB. From there I will look for the best available WR for two more picks before RB. I know a TE like Jimmy Graham or Travis Kelce will be available. If they are I will take one but I am not focused on TE. Towards the end I will find a defense or two and back up QB before picking the kicker. Wish me luck.
