Mets Win Streak Continues, NFL Kickoff Recap

Mark Vientos, Mets, Giants, Saquon Barkley

PORT JEFF, NY – Greetings. Here’s what we’ve got for today: Mets Win Streak Continues, NFL Kickoff Recap.

Mets Win Streak Continues

Everyday I watch this team and think at some point this magical run they’ve been on will come to an end. Yet incredibly, they just keep winning. The Mets have now won nine consecutive games and moved ahead of the Braves for the final Wild Card spot. With this recent hot stretch the Mets are also just 0.5 games behind the Diamondbacks and 2.0 games behind the Padres. This team seems to have a magical component to it similar to the one they had in their 2015 World Series season. Francisco Lindor gets the majority of the attention as this team’s best player, which of course he is and is deserving of that attention and more, however the season that Mark Vientos is having is nothing short of spectacular and deserves more recognition. Vientos is second among all 3B in OPS at .899, he’s batting .286 and has 24 HR in just 339 At Bats. Vientos has emerged as one of this team’s best players and an anchor in the heart of one of the most fierce lineups in baseball. LFGM!!!!!

Eagles/Packers, Chiefs/Ravens Reaction.

The Chiefs looked unbeatable offensively in their 27-20 win over the Ravens Thursday night. The complement of weapons the Chiefs front office has put around Patrick Mahomes is frightening for the rest of the league. Rashee Rice eclipsed 100 yards and seems poised to take over a Travis Kelce like roll in dominating targets over the middle. Their biggest offseason addition, first rounder Xavier Worthy, scored two Touchdowns displaying his historical speed. Their other offensive signing this past offseason, Marquise Brown didn’t even play in this game. There is no limit to this offenses upside and if everyone manages to stay healthy, Mahomes may be in for a historical season and third consecutive Super Bowl.

Over in Brazil, the Eagles defeated the Packers 34-29. However, most notably Jordan Love suffered a sprained MCL on the final drive of the game. Prior to the injury, the Packers offense looked great. Jayden Reed looked poised to take a massive leap in his second year, Christian Watson may finally be healthy, and they ran the ball at will against the porous Eagles run defense. Love is expected to be sidelined 3-4 weeks, though this could be an injury that could linger the entire season. The Packers will have to tread water in Love’s absence which will be particularly tough in what’s an expected excellent NFC North . For Philly, Jalen Hurts made some very bad decisions but was bailed out by Saquon Barkley who looked unbelievable in his first game as an Eagle. Barkley totaled over 120 yards and had three Touchdowns, Giants fans dreamed for years what Barkley could do behind a competent O-line and now we’re finally seeing it.
