Port Jeff NY- Greetings and Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. Here are today’s topics: Mets Drop a Pair and US Open Final Round
Mets Drop a Pair to Tampa
The Mets lost 7-5 to the Rays Saturday. Tylor Megill had perhaps his worst outing of the year, failing to get out of the third inning. Megill has always been incredibly inconsistent, however this season we’ve seen several high ceiling performances throughout the year. With Kodai Senga heading to the IL, it appears Megill will stick around for at least a few more starts with the returns of Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas’ imminent. Once the whole complement of pitchers is healthy, (though that seems unlikely to ever happen) the Mets will have to decide who to bump from the rotation. Montas will likely be given multiple chances to prove himself so that likely leaves one of Megill or Griffin Canning. I really like what I’ve seen out of Canning and I’d be intrigued to see the Mets try out Megill as a late inning arm, I think his stuff would play up and he could really be a weapon down the stretch.
US Open Final Round
After a second round 65, Sam Burns followed it up with a one under par 69 to take a one shot lead into the final round. Burns a five time winner on tour is playing incredible golf. After a heartbreaking runner up finish at the Canadian Open, Burns looks to finally breakthrough and claim his first major championship. Chasing Burns are JJ Spaun and Adam Scott who each sit one shot back at -3, Viktor Hovland also remains firmly in the mix at -1. Oakmont has absolutely delivered as a fantastic major venue once again and should deliver a memorable Father’s Day finish.
On this Father’s Day, I’d like to take a moment and remember my Dad, Big Al Sternberg or as some of you knew him as Fake Sandy Alderson.

You were an incredible father and an incredible person. You wouldn’t believe how good the Mets are. We love and miss you more every day. Rest In Peace, Dad.
