Mets hot streak; Jets avoid disaster, Naylor to Seattle.

PORT JEFF, we’ll keep this short and sweet, Mets hot streak, Jets avoid disaster, Naylor to Seattle.

The Mets are on a hot streak. Just a week ago, they lost two out of three games to the Reds coming out of the All-Star break and appeared to be clinging to a playoff spot. Since then, the Mets have swept the Angels and temporarily reclaimed first place over the Phillies. While it is a small sample size, Francisco Lindor delivered a much-needed multi-hit and RBI game. Additionally, the Mets benefited from their starting pitchers going deeper into games, with Frankie Montas working into the sixth inning and setting up their high-leverage bullpen arms effectively.

The Jets narrowly avoided a potential disaster as their new quarterback, Justin Fields, was carted off during training camp in what initially appeared to be a season-ending injury for the team’s latest signal-caller. In a fortunate turn of events for Gang Green, it was revealed that Fields had only been stepped on by a lineman. While undoubtedly painful, the injury is not as severe as feared, and Fields is expected to recover. Under the leadership of new head coach Aaron Glenn, the Jets seem to have a renewed and promising energy. This team could potentially surprise many, especially considering that, in previous seasons, the Jets have struggled to begin the year with key players at premium positions fully healthy.

Josh Naylor has been traded from Arizona to Seattle in the first major move of the deadline season. The Mariners have landed a crucial middle-of-the-order bat to provide support for J-Rod. This trade clearly signals that the D-backs are in selling mode. Let the chaos begin!
