NIAGARA FALLS, NY – Happy Monday, everybody. We’re about two and a half weeks from Christmas—time to get those lights up if you haven’t already (this includes me). With that little bit of advice out of the way, let’s look at the plan for today. As usual, we will talk about the New York Jets and their loss to the Miami Dolphins, take a look at the New York Knicks, and review the week for the New York Rangers.
Let’s start with some pigskin.
NY Jets
The J-E-T-S had a nightmare game against the Dolphins. Veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor went down with a hamstring injury in the first quarter, so undrafted rookie free agent Brady Cook stepped in.
Unfortunately for Cook, the Jets’ defense played poorly in the first quarter, giving up three touchdowns. This meant the rookie quarterback couldn’t just hand the ball off; he had to come out throwing passes. Of course, it didn’t work out right. He got into a groove late in the game, but by that time it was already over.
The Jets’ defense got punched in the face repeatedly and couldn’t step up. This was an ugly loss, and it’s time to start getting ready for next week.
Now to the hardwood.
NY Knicks
The New York Knicks had a decent week. After having a hot first quarter and then getting burned in the second, they couldn’t catch up to Boston and took that loss on Tuesday. They went on to dominate the Hornets, blow out the Utah Jazz, and edge out the Magic.
And finally, let’s hit the ice.
NY Rangers
The New York Rangers went winless this weekend, playing in three overtime games.
The Rangers have horrible home form, but I thought coming back to tie and then win in overtime against the Stars on Tuesday night was a sign of big things to come. They went on the road on Thursday and beat the Senators, then had a Saturday-Sunday back-to-back at home.
On Saturday, they came back to force overtime against the Avalanche, but instead of pushing on for the win, they lost. On Sunday, they went up 1-0, gave up a tying goal in the third period to the Vegas Golden Knights, and then lost in overtime.

I guess forcing overtime still gets you a point, but the Rangers’ home play is so frustrating. They don’t have the time to be a #1 seed, but they really have to start picking it up if they hope to be a top-four seed in the playoffs and get home-ice advantage. Although, at this rate, maybe being a five-seed and having to be on the road will work out for them.
