Knicks win a thriller and wide open Eastern Conference

The Knicks rallied from an 18-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat the Rockets. It was a relatively quiet game from the star players, but it was Jose Alvarado who’s been one of the best role players in basketball that came up huge with five steals and a crucial tough layup in the Knicks comeback. Now at 36-21, the Knicks are tied with the red hot Cavs for the number four seed.

Coming into the year it was fairly obvious that the Eastern Conference was there for the taking with injuries to Tyrese Haliburton and Jason Tatum. However, I think it’s even more open than we thought. The number one seed Pistons have had one of the best rebuilds in recent memory and are led by MVP candidate Cade Cunningham.

Detroit holds the best record in basketball and should be taken seriously as a real title threat despite lacking playoff experience.

Then there’s the Celtics, who everyone expected to take a step back with Tatum out for the year. They’ve done the complete opposite, this has been arguably Joe Massulas best coaching job as he has them playing truly inspired basketball with this new look roster.

It remains to be seen whether or not Tatum will return for the playoffs but either way the Celtics are absolutely good enough to win the East.

The Cavs, who since trading for James Harden have been the best team in basketball. This has been a dream match and harden might be exactly what the Cavs need to finally get over the hump post LeBron. As for the Knicks, I think they’re every bit as good as all of the teams mentioned.
