SPANISH HARLEM – I’m going to assume that I jinxed my New York Yankees last week because that became the start of a brutal week. We’ll get into that, and look at the Knicks playoff series with the Atlanta Hawks… I don’t care about the Mets, but you can vent below.
Do The Yankees Suck?
While it is too early to say that, what has made this team so frustrating to watch has reared its ugly head. It’s been running on about 10 years where the Yankees either hit homeruns or don’t score at all. Seeing the Tampa Bay Rays do the little things to win games is something you want to see more of from the Yankees. Unfortunately, Cashman and company continue to put out the same product hoping for different results… what is that called again… oh that’s right… INSANE.
On top of that, this team is too reliant on the almighty Aaron Judge. If he doesn’t have a good game, this lineup follows suit. You can say that they are good at seeing a lot of pitches and getting walks but far too often you see no runs being produced because they don’t make enough positive contact or contact at all for that matter. How many guys can you have on a team hitting .200? if you’re the Yankees, that is most of your everyday lineup.
Knicks vs. Hawks

This wasn’t the ideal matchup that many Knick fans wanted yet it’s the one they got. The Hawks are the one team that nobody in the east wanted to play in the playoffs. That’s not me saying that the Knicks will lose this series, but it will certainly be a difficult one to win. The Hawks have been a better team after trading Trae Young, and it showed in their overall record for the second half of the season.
I believe the Knicks will win the series and they have what it takes to make the Finals, but they have to go through some really good teams to do it. Maybe this series will be good for them because it won’t be a calk walk and they will have to bring their “A” game every night. There will be no pushovers from here on out… will this be their year? That remains to be seen.
That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for more great content from Jackson Sternberg.
