St. Johns Portal Updates, Mets New Low, Knicks vs Hawks

PORT JEFF, NY –  Happy Friday everyone. We’ve got lots to potentially discuss, but Management has me on a pitch-count. With that, here’s the selection: St. John’s Portal Update, Mets New Low, Knicks vs Hawks.

St. John’s Portal Update

It’s been a minute since we’ve talked about some hoops – Knicks aside. The Johnnies have had an interesting start to the offseason, as they have signed Euro superstar Quinn Ellis. Ellis is a true PG. Ellis competed at the highest level, playing professionally overseas. A premier point guard is the one thing the Red Storm lacked last season. Securing a player of Ellis’ caliber was a great start to the off-season for the Johnnies.

Rick Pitino and Company were not done there, however. The bigger story of this off-season was St. John’s swooping at the last second to land former Syracuse transfer Donnie Freeman. Many consider Freeman an NBA lottery pick in future years and a consensus top 10 recruit. It will not be easy to replace the production left by Zuby Ejiofor, Dillon Mitchell and Bryce Hopkins. Freeman and Ellis are massive gets., especially considering the red storm still has many holes to fill.

Mets New Low

Unfortunately, we’re going to have to talk about the New York Mets today. This team has completely fallen apart. The worst month of the regular season. The pitching is not what we expected to be. The offense is perhaps the worst in baseball and, outside of Juan Soto and Nolan McLean, there aren’t very many reasons to be optimistic at this point. As someone who is as optimistic as I am, can say that this team is going nowhere.

Every game, they find new ways to lose and new ways to disappoint fans. I did not want to spend too much time talking about them because, quite frankly, it doesn’t deserve to be talked about. But this is ridiculous.

Fans deserve better and for everything we’ve had to sit through for years. It seems like we’re right back to where we started.

Jackson Sternberg

Knicks vs Hawks,

The New York Knicks advanced to the second round of the NBA playoffs on Thursday night. They opened the game on a 43-15 run and would never looked back.

OG Anunoby was lights out from deep, Jalen Brunson led like he always does. This Knicks team was everything the past seasons were not.  They were healthy. They were physical.  They were intense. Simply put, they were just the better team in the series.

That’s it for me. Feel free to comment below.

Jackson and his twin brother Jacob are son's of MTM legend, Al Sternberg. Being the youngest of the twins by 10 minutes, Jackson knows the value of time. Look for him and Jacob to collaborate and/or create separately. Family quirk: the twins don Speedos when wake-boarding on Long Island's beaches.
