PORT JEFFERSON, NY- Greetings and a Happy Mother’s Day! Lets get right into today’s topics: Knicks up 3-0, Mets Still Stink!
Knicks up 3-0
Knicks fans have waited decades for this the moment. Right now they are the favorites to win the Eastern Conference. For the first time in forever there isn’t a true dominant team in the East. With a commanding lead, the Knicks should advance to the eastern conference finals – where they’ll be favored over the Pistons or Cavs. Both are good well-rounded teams but the Pistons are the far more formidable – particularly on defense.
While being the favorite is always a good thing it’s important to recognize the opportunity the Knicks have right now. This is it. This is the time. There will likely never be another time the Eastern Conference is this wide open. Should the Knicks win the East – and they should – they’re very likely to face the OKC Thunder (barring some stunning upset). Whether or not they have any chance whatsoever against the league’s up and coming dynasty is a bridge they’ll cross if they’re lucky enough to get to.
Young Mets Stink

Another week of baseball is in the books for the Mets. They won more games than they lost, which I guess is something at this point. There’s been a few bright spots with Clay Holmes and Nolan McLean looking excellent so far and Benge and Marcus Semien starting to heat up. Aside from that it’s bleak. The lineup has been brutal. The rest of the rotation hasn’t been any good. This isn’t a good team and I don’t think things will improve even when they get healthier. This organization is at somewhat of a crossroads. They made a decision to move away from key pieces this past offseason and it’s been a disaster.
The farm system has a few promising arms in waiting but what we’ve seen in the last 5–10 years is that the top offensive prospects simply haven’t panned out. Guys like Francisco Alvarez, Brett Baty, and Ronny Mauricio have not become the players this organization was counting on them to become. Aside from Pete Alonso who no longer resides in Queens, who’s the last big offensive prospect that’s turned out well for the organization? Even guys like Jarred Kelenic and Amed Rosario – who the Mets drafted and avoided disaster with – haven’t turned into the players they were supposed to be. They need needs to reevaluate how they rate offensive players in their scouting.
They currently suck at it. The young Mets stink.
