BRONX, NY – There was a time when the NY Yankees/Boston Red Sox games were a must watch. As they get ready to battle it out for the Wild Card series, it just ain’t the same.
The names of Big Papi, Pedro and Manny have been replaced by a bunch of who’s who! The once rivalry between these two teams was equivalent to a couple of street gangs having its differences. Back in the 70s, there was Fisk and Lee and Piniella and Rivers. Those names, who only needed one tag, were replaced by Jeter and Garcia and Posada and even Devers.
On Tuesday, Game One takes place up in Da Bronx and unless Cam Schittler starts plucking batters which will lead to fireworks in Game Two, then it’s fuggedaboudit!
There is as much of a heated rivalry in a current Yanks/Red Sox game as the current heavyweight division of boxing. Just like the Red Sox roster of who-are-these-guys, can anyone even name the current heavyweight champ?
Unless the two J.C.’s, Jazz Chisolm and Jose Caballero start talking trash to the visitors dugout and something ignites, where Sox reliever Aroldis Chapman goes head hunting, then fuggedaboudit… it just ain’t the same.
