PORT JEFF, NY – I hope everyone’s doing well. Let’s talk some sports: Giants vs Saints, Playoff Baseball.
Giants vs. Saints
Another week of the new-look Giants brought another memorable game. Through the first three quarters, the Giants resembled last year’s team—slow, unprepared, and flat-out uninspiring. Although I’ve been critical of him, Jameis Winston delivered an outstanding performance last Sunday, particularly in the fourth quarter when it mattered most. The Giants were in prime position to secure another early-season division win until a costly fumble by Cam Skattebo handed Washington the ball with just a minute remaining in overtime. Remarkably, the Giants managed neither a loss nor a win, tying with Washington to move to a 3-1-1 record. All things considered, if I had been told the Giants would hold a game-and-a-half lead in the NFC East by mid-October, I would have welcomed it regardless of who the quarterback was. The Giants now return home to face the Saints this weekend in what is one of their most important games in some time. With Philadelphia, Washington, and Dallas all struggling and the schedule set to become significantly more challenging, facing a 1-4 Saints team at MetLife Stadium is a must-win situation.
Playoff Baseball

On Thursday, MLB moved the Tampa Bay Rays vs. Cleveland Guardians playoff game up to 1 o’clock due to rain in the forecast. It turned into another nail-biter in Cleveland, with the Guardians taking a 2-1 lead over the top-seeded Rays. The story of this game was the Guardians’ trade deadline acquisitions—Jo Adell from Los Angeles and Nathaniel Lowe from the Reds—who, along with superstar Jose Ramirez, have carried the team through October.
With all the chatter about super teams and salary caps, it would be great to see either the Rays or Guardians win the World Series. Speaking of the Fall Classic, the Milwaukee Brewers swept the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers in four games. This series was unbelievable, as the Brewers, clearly the best team in baseball for six months, proved they are no fluke. From April to now, this Brewers team has shown you don’t need a massive payroll to win. They have stars at nearly every position and are as complete a team as any, now just four wins away from becoming World Series champions.
