Grinding Ax Sunday: FREE NFL Picks, Key Games. Plus, Rangers Win!

PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ – The leaves are turning and so are the fortunes of some NFL teams. Week 6 offers up some key matchups that will provide clarity to football fans wondering where their favorite teams are headed.

I feel no joy  bashing  MTM staff’s favorite team, the NY Giants. It’s been a tough year for Big Blue and Danny Dimes. Last week Dallas knocked him into oblivion. But there is a silver lining in this cloud. My inside sources report that since Jones was concussed, he thinks he is Peyton Manning.  Giant fans should hope that he does not snap out of this

Omaha! Omaha!

Rams vs Giants

Not much to say here except Daniel Jones may be better served sitting this one out. Aaron Donald is going to hurt somebody, so throw the lanky Mike Glennon to the Rams in this one. Perhaps Kadarius Toney will sucker punch Donald and knock him out of the game! Los Carneros – 35 Giants 10

The Washington Football Team is trying to recapture its defensive mojo which seems to be missing this season. For a team that won the NFC East last year due to its stalwart front seven, this team needs to shutdown an opponent to get back into the race. In come the Kansas City Chiefs, who are still in shock at 2 wins and 3 losses. Has the league figured out Patrick Mahomes? Not this week. Chiefs 28 Washington 21

“I got this”

There are moments when a team finally lives up to the hype. Will this be that moment for the Dallas Cowboys versus the New England Patriots? It’s been thirty years since a Cowboys team has knocked off Bill Belichick. He always seems to come up with a scheme to fluster opposing quarterbacks and coaches. This is definitely a huge mismatch at the coaching position. The Patriots will try to stop a Cowboys attack that has a full cache of weapons. They need to put pressure on Dak Prescott and force him into bad decisions to keep this close. Defeating the Pats would give Prescott real legitimacy. Will the new Deion Sanders (Trevon Diggs) feast on his Crimson Tide teammate Mac Jones?  Dallas 24 New England 21

My final game to guess wrong will be the Raiders visiting the Denver Broncos. Can the team from Sin City overcome the distractions caused by the public cancellation of former coach Jon Chucky Gruden? This will rest on the shoulders of Derek Carr, who has not convinced most critics that he can lead this team to a playoff bid. Will Carr read any emails from Gruden on how to defeat  Teddy Bridgewater and his Mile High Broncos? This should be a good one. Look for Darren Waller and Josh Jacobs to be the difference makers. Las Vegas 24 Denver 17

And finally, here’s Bob with more failed predictions:

Grinding Ax Walt

Vikings 28 Panthers 21 (No McCaffrey, no win)
Packers 35 Bears 24 (Rodgers to Davante Adams, enough said)
Browns 24 Cardinals 21 (Chubb and Hunt will pound the ball)

Switching to hockey news,
I am not too thrilled with the job that Chris Drury is doing at MSG. The Rangers notched their first victory of the Drury Era, defeating a horrible Montreal Canadian team despite being out-shot 32-23. Alexis Lafrenière, Chris Kreider and Kevin Rooney scored for the Blueshirts.  We will have to wait and see if the wholesale organizational changes will turn this ship

Speaking of turning this ship around, come back tomorrow as Junoir Blaber attempts to turn this Wreck of the Hesperus around.
