SPANISH HARLEM – After a tough loss to Phoenix on Monday, the New York Knicks were looking to get back to their winning ways. On the baseball side, the New York Yankees have looked a lot better against the Baltimore Orioles. Two teams to discuss, so let’s get right into it.

KNICKS

Nobody likes to lose – especially while on a 9-game winning streak – but that’s exactly what happened against the Suns. Phoenix is the 2nd best team in the Western Conference, yet the Knicks looked like the better team for most of that game. Down the stretch they didn’t make enough plays on defense to get the win and when you add Devin Booker getting 40 points, that’s a recipe for a loss. You knew eventually the winning streak would end but as a fan you don’t want to see it.

Buddy Diaz

The next best thing is getting back in the win column and New York did that on Wednesday. The Chicago Bulls are fighting for a playoff spot and the Knickerbockers didn’t want to make it two in a row. With an usually bad night behind him, Julius Randle resembled the All-NBA player we’ve come to expect every night. They got down, picked themselves back up and scrapped their way to another win. Its no surprise that they best two players had good games because when RJ Barrett is playing well, the Knicks are playing well.

YANKEES

If you’re thinking any team can look good against the Orioles, I would certainly agree. They are a bad team and the Yankees should beat them but it’s in the way they did that gives me hope. They didn’t look as tight as in most of the games I watched. The swings were better for the most part. Some players still aren’t hitting the way you would want but its difficult to have everybody in the lineup hitting at the same time. I’m happy when they get production throughout the lineup and its been better of late.

Corey Kluber gave the Yanks his best outing of season on Tuesday and watching him throw, every pitch moves. Rarely do you see a straight pitch from him, he looks better and I want to see that Kluber more often. It was fun to watch. I know he was one of the best pitchers in the game for a good portion of his career and is still working his way back but it was definitely something that the team hopes he builds on. The same can be said about Domingo German, if you take away the first inning of his last start, he has thrown up zeros every inning since. Now they just need the back of the starting rotation to come around to build a nice little win streak of their own.

That’s it for now, come back tomorrow for Different Matt, who will drop the puck or the pigskin?

Until Next Time…
