SPANISH HARLEM – As you can imagine, this loss was a heartbreaker. Yes, it was a really good game to match… if you are a regular football fan. When it’s your favorite team in the Super Bowl, it just feels different. You live and die with every play and it only gets worse when the game ends and your team lost. I have had 3 days to recover, and now I’m ready to talk about what I liked and did not like about the game.
Jalen Hurts
I am so proud to call Jalen Hurts MY QB. I rooted for this guy all year. To start the season, all I wanted was to see him get better. That he did. While there were still doubters going in to the Big Game, I think there is no question now that he is super good. I couldn’t ask for a better game from the guy under center. Sure, he fumbled a ball to give the Kansas City Chiefs a free touchdown, but he still made play after play when it mattered the most. I can’t wait to see what is in store for this kid next year and beyond.
Eagles Defense
I know what your thinking: ‘He’s going to complain about that holding call that led to the game-winning field goal.’ Nope. You are wrong. It was the defense that did not show up at all. As a whole, they were terrible. No sacks. No stops. Against someone like Patrick Mahomes, that just won’t do. I expected a much better display than was provided on Sunday. It was so disappointing because they played their asses off to get to the SB. All year, they were one of the best defenses in the league, but in the most important game, they just couldn’t get it done.
When’s Opening Day, anyways? Let’s go Yanks. (Just don’t bring up Frankie Montas).
