Ohtani 50-50 in his first year, dawning the Dodger blue. Shohei Ohtani made history, becoming the first player to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases. He hit another home run by the end of the game to make it 51-51. He is having arguably the greatest season a player has ever had. This got me to thinking, who do we even compare him to? Prime Barry Bonds? That’s the only player I can realistically come up with. Judge did hit 62 home runs, but the 50 stolen bases is what is just mind-boggling to me, with over a week left to play too! Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to greatness.
Jets-Pats reactions: the Jets did what they needed to do on Thursday night and took care of business of an inferior foe; Hall and Wilson looked like superstars; Rodgers was sharp and consistent; the Jet defense was money. The Jets, for the first time in forever, look like a legit playoff team that can go toe to toe with anyone in the NFL. Jets fans can and should be excited for what’s ahead.
Mets keep mashing, every time we see a hint of adversity hit this team they respond and then some, my brother and I were at the game on Tuesday night and something just felt different, the atmosphere in the stadium felt like a team that no matter the circumstance knew they belonged in a big spot and deserved to be in the conversation as a team who can do some special things in the postseason. the health of Francisco Lindor is a bit concerning, with only 10 games left in the MLB regular season there is not much time to let Lindor sit and rest, however, if the Mets can keep up their winning ways, led by Luisangel Acuna, whom they acquired for Max Scherzer, has been unreal in his first cup of coffee in the big leagues, my point is, if the Mets can distance themselves from the braves, they can let Lindor sit for a week and rest up fully for the postseason, Another X-factor in the Mets pursuit of October baseball is the return of ace Kodai Senga. Whether Senga will be able to start in the postseason (granted the Mets get there) is a whole other discussion, but if they do finish the job, imagine a sparkling performance from Sean Manaea for 5-6 innings, then giving the ball to Senga for two and Diaz for one.
