BUFFALO, NY – Things have gotten pretty bad for the locals. The Giants have been so bad that a fan has taken to flying over the stadium with messages to clean house and put out the dumpster fire. I don’t know if a dumpster fire is enough of a calamity to describe this team. They’re a dumpster fire on a sinking ship in a hurricane, The Jets won a game, but you know it has been a bad season when Sauce Gardner’s first interception of the year comes on a desperation Mac Jones overthrow in week 15. The Rangers have gone from two games away from the finals to unwatchable, and the Isles are right there with them. So let us avert our eyes from the dumpsters and fires, and turn are attention to Western New York, where the mighty Buffalo Bills are looking pretty darn legitimate.
Allen Locks Up MVP
Some balked last week when I said Josh Allen was the MVP over Saquon last week, but it’s clearly Allen’s trophy to lose. The man is making the crazy difficult plays, but still somehow minimizing the risk and not turning it over. His stats could have been even better, if the almost play of the game, a chest pass TD to Kincaid, had not been called back by a penalty.
The Eagles would still be good without Saquon. The Bills would not even be a playoff team without Allen and had to play Mitch Trubuski. Allen is now the clear betting favorite to win it.
Trip to ‘Chip City?
The Bills’ path to the championship might have gotten a bit easier this week as well. In the NFC, the Lions, who looked Super Bowl bound, suffered a load of injuries on defense, as well as losing half of their thunder and lightning combo RB, with Montgomery out for the season. The Eagles are picking up steam and currently look like the biggest obstacle for the Bills.
In the AFC, the only team that can take them out is the Chiefs, and Mahomes took some huge shots before leaving the game with an ankle issue. He seems to have avoided a serious injury, but the door could be open for the Bills to sneak in and steal home field if he misses time. Regardless, I think the Bills will win in Arrowhead.
Despite the poor defensive performance vs the Rams a week ago, the Bills now have the best odds to win a championship. The defense isn’t elite, but Allen seems poised to overcome all deficits.
If Josh stays healthy, the Bills will win it all.
