Giants Preseason Opener
The Giants beat the Bills in their first preseason game of 2025. I couldn’t care less about the outcome of this game. What I do care about is how Jaxon Dart played in his first look at the NFL level, albeit in a preseason game. While it is just a preseason game, I was encouraged to see Dart showcase his ability to move the ball down the field and look poised in the pocket. I don’t think we’ll see much of Dart in the regular season and I’m okay with that. Let him learn behind the veteran Wilson and allow Brian Daboll to coach him up and prepare him for 2026. As for 2025, I don’t have a ton of expectations for this team anymore, they haven’t been good in so long that. However, I actually think this team could be a sneaky wildcard team. With addition of Abdul Carter, this team easily has a top 5 pass rush and if Russel Wilson can provide at least competent QB play and get the ball to Malik Nabers as much as possible, I don’t see why this team couldn’t win 8 or 9 games and fight for a playoff spot.
Mets Lose Again
The Mets lost their sixth consecutive game Saturday to the Brewers and are now 1-10 in their last 11 games. This is rock bottom for this team. They’ve now blown several games in the last two weeks that absolutely should have been wins. There’s no excuse for what’s happening right now they’re just not playing like a good team. They’re 4.5 games behind the Phillies, and they’re now just 2.5 games ahead of the Reds for the final WC spot. This team is doing nothing well right now. Even with HRs from Alonso, Marte and Soto it wasn’t enough to end this horrid stretch. Since early July they’ve had the worst offense in baseball by almost every metric. The core of Lindor, Nimmo, Alonso and Soto, despite homering in three straight,have been brutal since the All-Sar break and have been completely inept with runners in scoring position. I have no idea what the solution is. They made what I thought at the time were great moves at the deadline, but something just isn’t right with this team. It’s not far-fetched to believe they could miss the playoffs.
