More on Mets Mendoza and NBA Blockbuster

Carlos Mendoza, Greek Freak

Port Jeff, NY- Greetings and happy Sunday! Lets get into today’s topics: More on Mets Mendoza and NBA BlockbusterYeah, I know my brother talked about these topics on Friday – but now it’s my turn.

Mets Fire Mendoza

Things have somehow gone from bad to worse. Prior to losing their seventh straight game Friday night to fall fourteen games below .500, the Mets fired Carlos Mendoza. Of all the people who deserve blame for this pathetic season, I don’t think Mendy would crack my top ten. Mendoza showed time and time again for the last three seasons that he has an exceptional understanding of how to manage a game and the players as well.

Steve Cohen and David Stearns should be embarrassed to have allowed Mendoza, who played no part in assembling this horrific roster, to take the blame for this. I don’t know what the future holds for this team. Obviously Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor will be here long term, but it’s hard to envision beyond them who will be on this team in the coming seasons. They’ve already traded David Peterson to the Cubs, and I expect there to be many more players moved in the next month, assuming anyone wants the scraps of this roster.

Giannis to the Heat

Jacob Sternberg

After years of rumors that Giannis Antetokounmpo would be traded, it’s finally happened, and the Giannis era in Milwaukee has come to an end. The Heat instantly become one of the best teams in the East, and quite frankly I was surprised at how little they gave up to acquire a top-five player in the game. From the Bucks’ perspective, it was rumored that the Celtics offered Jaylen Brown and several first-round picks to the Bucks for Giannis, and Bucks owner Jimmy Haslam turned it down. It’s worth noting that Haslam also owns the Browns, who traded Myles Garrett last month. That’s quite a reputation for letting franchise cornerstones walk out the door.
