EL BARRIO, EL FALLS – Happy Monday! I am gonna share a secret with you guys; when you try to login here, you need your username, password and have to solve a captcha math problem. The captcha part scares me! If it is addition or subtraction, I am fine. Occasionally, though, it is multiplication – and I am screwed. I literally get the question wrong on purpose so they can ask me another that is math and is like 5 + _ = 6. I can never mess those up. There’s my excuse for being late again.  Anyway, let’s get to today’s headliners: New York Jets, Buffalo Bills & Brady Up/Belichick Down.

New York Jets

Adam Gase, New York Jets, Meet_The_MattsOnly the J-E-T-S could win and make their fans groan!! Going into Sunday the Jets (why do I keep spelling Jest in a typo?) were winless and in line for the number one pick. That would be QB Trevor Lawrence, unless he stayed at Clemson another year. The Jest being the Jets, had the nerve to win against Grote2DMax’s LA Rams in an upset of upsets. So… congrats on not being winless? Though they had beating the Broncos and Raiders recently in their grasp, they took down the Rams and avoided playing a horrible blitz defense on the last play. The win dropped the Jets to the second pick as Jacksonville wins the tie-breaker due to a weaker schedule. Now Jets fans better research Ohio State QB Justin Fields, because it looks like that is who they will get at #2. Considering the list of OSU quarterbacks gone bust, this is not reassuring at all. Time to trade down, I hope they do that and also don’t keep Gase but you never know. This is the Jets after all… And people wonder why I stopped watching football.

Buffalo Bills

Where is DJ Eberle when you need him? After predicting the Bills would win the division for 5 straight years, it finally happened. But he’s not here. They beat him into early MTM retirement. Buffalo ended the playoff drought 2 years ago at 19. That was a shame because the drought was old enough to vote, serve in the military and even do an adult film – but not old enough to drink.  The irony is that it took a lot of drinking to get through the drought. Another irony. But now Bills’ fans can drink to ending their division championship drought. I think I was still in high school the last time the Bills won the division. I don’t know how the playoffs will shake out but I fear a Bills home game and them even winning the whole thing. Western NY is already a COVID yellow zone, they will make it red really soon if this keeps going.

Brady Up/Belichick Down

I touched on this a few weeks back but it looks like Tom Brady has won the divorce. The Bucs rallied to beat the Atlanta Falcons while the Patriots lost to Miami to officially be eliminated from playoff contention. Since Belichick is a coach he will have more time to rebuild his brand and find himself a new Brady. As long as Brady is playing, however, there will always be a question as to who won the divorce. Score season 1 to Tom.
