PORT JEFF, NY- Greetings, let’s talk some round ball(s)! Mets Slide Continues, Rockets Get Durant
Mets Slide Continues
The Mets lost again to the Pirates. The loss brings the Mets to 3-12 in their last 15 games. The starting pitching has completely fallen off a cliff and been ravaged by injuries. David Peterson has struggled in consecutive starts, Kodai Senga, Sean Manaea, Tylor Megill and now Griffin Canning are all injured with the latter being done for the season. Clay Holmes has continued his excellent season and Frankie Montas had a very solid season debut this past week. Aside from Soto and Nimmo, who are having an excellent month of June, the entire lineup has struggled mightily. Francisco Lindor is batting just .183 during this brutal stretch, when he’s not hitting this team is always going to struggle. On the bright side the Mets are still 12 games above .500 and just 0.5 games out of first place behind the Phillies who also have struggled for much of the month of June. For whatever reason, this organization always struggles in June. Once the rotation gets healthy the bullpen won’t be relied upon so heavily. Every team goes through struggles, the Mets just always go through it in June.

Rockets Get Durant
The Rockets traded Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and picks to the Suns for Kevin Durant. I think this is a very fair trade for both teams. For Houston, they add one of the most prolific scorers of all time to an incredibly young and talented team that easily becomes one of the best teams in the NBA that should contend for a title. For the Suns, they’re in desperate need of a rebuild. It wouldn’t stun me to see them trade Devin Booker. Jalen Green is a very talented scorer who’s struggled with consistency early in his career. Green hasn’t come close to reaching his ceiling as a pro and I think a new team could be the perfect opportunity for him to emerge as one of the leagues premier scorers.
