PORT JEFF, NY – You know what we have to talk about, well keep this short. Mets and Yanks struggle.
THE TEAM IN QUEENS
The Mets are struggling after being swept by the Cleveland Guardians and almost being no-hit, with Juan Soto’s ninth-inning homer preventing that. Following this tough stretch, where they’ve lost 8 of their last 9 games, the Mets now sit 2.5 games behind Philadelphia for first place. There’s still plenty of baseball left, but if the core players—Soto, Lindor, Alonso, and Nimmo—don’t start producing, it will be a battle just to reach October. On the bright side, the Mets are still 3 games ahead of the Reds for the final Wild Card spot and have a clear path to the postseason. This team has the talent to turn things around and make a strong playoff push. Ya Gotta Believe!
THE TEAM IN THE BRONX

The Yankees are struggling. Despite their win yesterday, their playoff hopes are on thin ice. The first-place Blue Jays swept the Rockies, and the rival Red Sox have won seven of their last eight games, leapfrogging the Yankees in the standings. Now, the Yankees sit just one game ahead of the Texas Rangers, who recently took a series from them. The road ahead looks tough, with the Bronx Bombers facing the Houston Astros, a team that always seems to give them trouble. Since acquiring their so-called “super pen,” the relievers have all blown a game, even leading to Jake Bird being sent to Triple-A. David Bednar was phenomenal in Wednesday’s win and, in my opinion, should replace Devin Williams as the team’s closer. On the bright side, despite their poor play, the Yankees are still in the mix and can boast a strong rotation with Fried, Rodon, and Luis Gil.
