PORT JEFF, NY – Greetings and happy Sunday! Lets get right into today’s topics.
Bregman to the Cubs.
The Cubs make a huge splash in what’s been a fairly quiet begin to the 2025-26 offseason. Alex Bregman inked a 5-year, $175 million dollar deal from Chicago. I think this is a fantastic move by the Cubbies. The deal feel incredibly fair and with Kyle Tucker likely signing elsewhere, Alex Bregman can immediately slide into his spot in the order and keep the cubs among the top contenders in the NL. As it pertains to the Mets, I really thought after allowing Alonso and Diaz to walk that they’d surely be in the mix for Bregman. I just have no idea what not-so-Amazins are doing. While it is still early in free agency and big names like Cody Bellinger and Tucker remain unsigned, I don’t have much confidence in this team making a consequential change to the 2026 opening day roster.
Giants Head Coach rumors

There are a ton of names being thrown out as to who could be the next head coach of the Giants. This is a particularly unusual coaching carousel as we’ve seen a larger then normal amount of coaches fired after the season. The two likely leading candidates in my eyes are John Harbaugh and Kevin Stefanski. IMHO it’s not even a question; I think the Giants hand over everything to Stefanski and allow him to make Dart a star QB. Stefanski is a two-time Coach of the Year winner, who for when given even average QB play, has produced one of the most prolific passing offenses in football.
On the other hand, I wouldn’t be upset if the Giants went in the direction of John Harbaugh. For the last decade plus this franchise has become a complete laughing stock and hiring a guy like Harbaugh to button them up wouldn’t be the worst idea. Should they go that route I’d love to see them pair him with Mike McDaniel as the offensive coordinator.
