MLB Hotstove, Jets/Bills, Tiger returns.

HOLBROOK, NY – It’s that time of year for pick-up football games, floats and tryptophan. This year, the Knicks and NY Rangers are hot, so it would be easy to talk about them. To hell with them, though. I’m looking at the following, today: MLB Hotstove, Jets/Bills, Tiger returns.

MLB Offseason

Japanese star Pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto is expected to be posted Monday, with the Mets and Yankees expected to be among many to pursue. Mets starter Kodai Senga has let the organization know that he wants Yamamoto as a teammate and has been recruiting him. Yamamoto would be an incredible addition to a Mets rotation that is currently lacking in quality arms as well as depth. Having missed out on several star free agents in the past few seasons the Yankees are also in need of a big splash. Yamamoto would certainly fit the bill.

Speaking of Japanese superstars, the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes are underway. How large will the Ohtani contract be? That’s tough to say. The two-way phenom won’t pitch in all of 2024. I’d still expect him to get somewhere in the ballpark of 500 million, which would be the largest in the history of the sport. I believe the likeliest outcome for Ohtani is the Dodgers. It seems they’ve been gearing up the last few off seasons after letting Corey Seeger walk two seasons ago to offer Ohtani as much as it’ll take to make him a Dodger for life.

Jets Bills

Someone gets their season back on track here, as the Jets will look to keep their playoff hopes alive in Buffalo this afternoon. The Gang Green offensive woes have seemingly caught up to them. Yes, this defense is probably the best in football… BUT… the offense has shown no ability to close out drives and consistently move the ball. It’s borderline malpractice what this organization is doing by keeping Zach Wilson as the starter. The Jets have one touchdown since late October. On the other side of the ball, the Bills are fresh off a crushing loss to the Broncos that resulted in the firing of their offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.

The past few seasons the Jets defense has dominated Josh Allen. I’m not certain it matters in the slightest, with how bad this offense is. I think we see a relatively competitive game for most of the way with the Bills slightly pulling away late.

Prediction Bills 20- Jets 13

Tiger Returns

Jacob Sternberg

Tiger Woods will return for his first tournament since the Masters. He will compete in the Hero World Challenge, an event he hosts in the Bahamas from Nov. 30-Dec. 3. Woods has played in just five tournaments since his car wreck back in February 2021.
