PORT JEFF, NY – I hope everyone is doing well, here’s what we got: Mahomes and Chiefs Go Down, Mets Offseason Flounders, Rams vs Seahawks
Mahomes and Chiefs Go Down
After a decade of dominance, the Kansas City Chiefs have been knocked out of postseason contention. To make matters worse, Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL and will likely miss the first half of next season. Where the Chiefs go from here is anyone’s guess, but one thing is certain: with a Top 15 pick in next year’s draft and Andy Reid at the helm, they’ll retool and be ready to contend again once Mahomes returns.
Mets Offseason Flounders
The Mets’ offseason rolls on, and after losing Pete Alonso and Edwin Díaz, David Stearns has responded by signing Jorge Polanco and Luke Weaver. I don’t understand why the Mets were comfortable giving Polanco a 2-year, $40 million deal but not offering one of their homegrown stars 5 years for $150 million. The Luke Weaver signing suggests that Devin Williams will be the Mets’ closer moving forward, but I don’t trust Williams or Weaver nearly as much as I trusted Díaz. While the offseason isn’t over yet, this feels like another transition year for the Mets.

Rams vs Seahawks
In what might have been the best game of the NFL season, the Seattle Seahawks edged out the LA Rams 38-37 in overtime. The matchup was full of ups and downs, with the Rams seemingly having Darnold’s number again after two awful interceptions, the second of which looked like it would seal the game. But Rashid Shaheed flipped the momentum with an electrifying punt return for a touchdown. From there, the Seahawks’ defense, which had been torched all night by Matt Stafford’s 457 passing yards and Puka Nacua’s 11 catches for 225 yards, held firm and didn’t allow another point in regulation. As thrilling as the game was, Stafford’s performance on the road against the league’s top defense was especially impressive. Next up, the Seahawks head to Carolina to take on a pesky Panthers squad, while the Rams travel to Atlanta to face Kirk Cousins and the Falcons.
