NFL Returns, Mets vs Yanks

PORT JEFF, NY –  I hope everyone is having a great week, and our thoughts are with you on this 9/11. Just like 25 years ago, let’s use sports to give us a break from the reality of that shitty event and let’s talk some sports. Here’s what I got: NFL Returns, Mets vs Yanks

NFL Returns

The NFL is finally back after a long offseason, and we’re just days away from the first full Sunday of the games. The start was highlighted by the defending champion Seattle Seahawks taking on the Patriots. Both teams displayed the same physical, stout defense seen in the Super Bowl, but the story of the game was Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold leaving early with a hip injury. After falling behind 10-0, Seattle’s defense tightened up and didn’t allow another point, while Maye threw three tough interceptions, the final one handing the Patriots a narrow 13-10 loss. Donald is expected to recover, with Drew Lock set to start in Week Two against the struggling Cardinals. Meanwhile, Thursday night’s overseas game saw the Super Bowl-favored Rams fall to the San Francisco 49ers, who dominated from start to finish, exposing weaknesses in the Rams’ defense and leaving Matt Stafford looking uncomfortable. The Rams now sit at 0-1 after a disappointing season opener in what was considered a must-win game.

Mets vs Yanks

As for the Mets/Yankees matchup, tomorrow promises a pitching duel featuring Mets ace Nolan McLean and Yankees’ Carlos Rodón. The Mets have improved since the trade deadline and are coming off a sweep of their rivals, the Marlins. While the team is still 10 games under .500, there are reasons to be optimistic—they could play spoiler and make things interesting for the Yankees in the American League race.

So as always, let’s go Mets.
